Counselling/Psychotherapy

My core training was Person Centred and I studied at Surrey University.

I am a semi-retired  Advanced Certified Practitioner  in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for the treatment of trauma, attachment and developmental wounds.

I have specialist training for the treatment of complex trauma, Dissociative Identity Disorder and Ritual Abuse.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy helps to heal the disconnection between how we think, feel and sense things in our bodies using a blend of cognitive, emotional and body-focused interventions that address implicit memories and the neurobiological effects of trauma.

Attachment theory and the role of the body and brain in trauma and a “Three phase approach” to working with dissociation and Dissociative Identity Disorder have been significant further training.

Comprehensive Resource Model (Lisa Schwarz) promotes healing from traumatic experience within a context of resources to maintain adequate emotional regulation. I currently only offer short term work and up to 6 sessions of sensorimotor psychotherapy to those wanting to experience this modality and/or do a short piece of work.

I incorporate creativity in my work.

I have regular professional supervision for my work as required by BACP. I am committed to my own professional and personal development.
